Guestbooks
After every performance, the audience exits into a space where a couple of Guestbooks are laid out. Some people write in them; some don’t. Some send emails which are then taped into the books.
- I know now what I didn't know then; that my days with DNA were the purest days of creativity that I may ever experience. I continue to be inspired by you and my memories of that time, so thanks. And remember, though “people are stupid” at least some are grateful to do exactly what they're told. (Fabrizzio)
- “Fuck 'em where they breathe!” (Peter Lynch remembering a Hillar-quote)
- Hillar – of all the times you saved me the one that was the most significant was the Sagan [Bonjour Tristesse] – many loves – you are unlike … (Sheila Heti)
- Wow! What a different experience – I have never seen a show like this! Thanks for sharing the stories.
- DNA's new show is only show I've ever heard of that is about the company putting the show on. … I hope that the preceding diatribe came off as the highest form of praise. (Sean Ward)
- An intimate evening spent with DNA – I don't even know this much about my own family. (Natalie)
- 20 years! Many memories – vivid memories – great moments – great theatre – thank you, Hillar. (Jini Stolk)
- The vintage 1982 [Charles Heidseik Champagne] is casting a spectacular spell on my psyche … I love images, wounds, words and so I love you DNA and all your work. Since POUNDEMONIUM I have been whirling around in the carousel of space. (Megan Fehlberg)
- It's been years and I still struggle to describe how intensely you and the work I have seen has changed both myself and my love of the imagination. (Stephanie Sinclair)
- I very much enjoyed evening's nostalgia, drama and celebration. (Christina Jol)
- I felt like part of the family. Reduced to crawling on the floor, searching for a pen, never felt better. Keep on truckin'.
- Thanks for the sweet memories – not to mention the sweet mammaries and genitals over the years.
- I would pay $5 to rephrase my question. I would have asked: “Given that you really think that people are by + large stupid, why have you dedicated your life to the inherently hopelessly optimistic activity of making ART?” (Heather Lash)
- As great minds gather, the world is reminded of the strength and beauty that art can bring to those who wait with bated breath for a glimpse of the divine. (Melissa)
- I still think that scoring theatre like music makes dramatic what is merely poetic – not to diminish poetry, but to embody it. Sky talked about melodrama being created from the insertion of REAL moments into the fictional – it confounds convention and raises the stakes – like having animals on stage – there is the glory of unpredictability. The irrational is theatrically sweet, DNA -style. (David Duclos)
- There is beauty in pain, there is beauty in horror but most importantly there is beauty in being still. The silence in between heart beats. A flirtation with death? … I am rich in ways that I have yet to even realize but I am certain of one thing – that in my jewel case there are pieces formed from knowing DNA and this leaves me grateful. Cheers you fucker. (Clinton Walker)
- Funniest fuckin' DNA show I've ever seen. (James O'Reilly)
